The British group Iliketrains performed in Moscow in the Russian capital for the first time was the young British group Iliketrains. It can be called the successor of the Sigur Ros and Mogwai: Iliketrains - new heroes for fans of building. The group arose in 2004 in Lids. So far, in her discography debut EP (mini-album) "Progress Perform", released in 2006, and the full-fledged record "Elegies to Lessons Learnt", which came out last fall.Iliketrains is fundamentally unhappy: the content of their songs is sometimes quite tragic, and the music is clearly not designed for carefree parties. Apparently, to create an appropriate mood, all members of the group perform in white shirts with black mourning bandages on their hands. As a rule, Iliketrains songs are a slow and solemn sound stream, and quite noisy. The manner of singing vocalist David Martin is a little pathetic and resembles the manner of Tom Smith from Edithors, and sometimes the late Nika Cave.
In Moscow, the Russian team of The Decomposers played at the warm -up of British guests. Also supporters of the uniforms, the "decomposers" were in yellow T -shirts. The group is quite numerous, there is even a percussionist playing on a cylinder from a fire extinguisher and other glands. The music of "decomopozers" - broken and inflated - is not recommended to listen to people with a weak nervous system. If at first The Decomposers might seem to be followers of Mike Patton, then by the middle of the performance it became clear: their source of inspiration - The Birthday Party, the post -tank team of Nika Cave. Trying to match the moment, the leader of The Decomposers not only sang, but also spoke English between the songs, which, in general, sounded unnatural.
After warming up The Decomposers left, and the bearded British from Iliketrains began to rebuild their sound. The concert took place on an open area, and the atmosphere reigned the most relaxed one. There were no crowds and hundreds of people who wanted to join the novelties of British guitar music, but a sufficient number of Iliketrains connoisseurs still gathered at the stage. Having tuned in, the group began to slowly unfold their epic musical canvases. Iliketrains compositions are characterized by some gloomy solemnity. In the most pathetic places, the sound of a pipe wedged into a dense guitar noise.
Before one of the songs, David Martin came to mind to congratulate the Moscow public on the victory at Eurovision. “Our ones were not so lucky,” said Iliketrains soloist, “but we would love to invite you at the skates to participate in our concert. But we still devote the next song to the British artist, because this is a song about failure. It must be said, a characteristic topic for the group.
On the plasma screen, at the same time as the music, a video was a video - some films about polar explorers and other severe spectacles, and sometimes surprisingly successfully synchronized with live music. The song “About failure” was accompanied by the following image: the window lit by flashes (the first third of the song), the loop of the gallows (second third of the song), heavy rain (to the finale). However, the weather on this spring evening was so good that all the deliberate gloom of Iliketrains was not taken seriously.
It is noteworthy that the commands of unconditionally first freshness began to bring to Moscow more often. Thanks to such a policy, this time was the opportunity to evaluate the group, which so far was known only to indie rock enthusiasts. The name Iliketrains does not rattle like Mogwai, but it is possible that in a year someone will bite his elbows because he did not come to this concert.
