A popular means for rejuvenation of a face in half of cases causes a dependence close to drug Botox, affectionately called a "remedy for afternoon revitalization of the face", we love many women and men for its wonderful ability to smooth out wrinkles and restore youthful freshness. However, in a study published at the recent conference of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, it is reported that the fight against signs of aging using Botox can lead to uncontrollable, fanatical addiction.Psychologist Carter Singh from the Deribishirsky Royal Clinic and the doctor Martin Kelly from the London Association of Plastic Surgeons presented the results of their research in the report “Botox Dependence”. They argue that four out of ten people using Botox strive to use it so often that this is suspicious of dependence on the drug comparable to the drug. The result of the use of Botox is manifested almost immediately, but it goes to negate for four to six months, after which a repeated procedure is necessary to restore skin smoothness. However, many clients again turn to cosmetologists with the slightest signs of changes in the condition of the skin of the face, and long before the effect of the drug ends. More than half of them complain that without injection they lose control of the aging process, and about the same believe that Botox allows them not only to look good, but also to feel younger. Experts note that the side effects of the drug have not properly studied and it is possible that its too frequent use can have a negative effect on the human body.
Botox (the commercial name of the botulinum toxin A is poison, which is produced by bacteria that cause botulism) is the most popular means of inoperative cosmetic effects in the UK. According to the Mintel marketing study, more than 100 thousand Botox injections per year are produced in the country, and a client of a cosmetology clinic pays an average of 900 pounds for these procedures annually.
“People resort to Botox, because the prospect of aging scares them, and after injections of the drug friends and relatives tell them that they began to look younger and healthier,” says Judy Evans, a plastic surgeon from the Naaffield Clinic (Plymouth). - Having heard such compliments, they really begin to feel younger. And then they again turn to Botox to extend this feeling. ”
“I am constantly injected by Botox,” admits Jamma Newman, the wife of the famous pop musician Gary Newman. - I live all the time waiting for another injection. Each of them brings me closer to the desired goal: to look better and feel happier. And without Botox, I feel like a freak that cannot be lusting or loved. ”
However, Dr. Daniel System, a rejuvenation specialist from the BeautyWorks West in Notting Hill, doubts that Botox can cause a persistent dependence: “When using Botox, the volume of one-in-laws is reduced once every three months. If you compare two people, one of whom used Botox every three months, and the other every six months, most likely, it turns out that in a year they received the same amount of Botox. ”
