From the moment the series appeared on the air, it caused indignation in the conservative layers of American society. Complaints were filed, protests were held, but The Boondocks continued to gain popularity. In a sense, the series and the 2x2 channel found each other. In the summer of 2008, claims from the public have repeatedly sounded to the latter. The series “South Park”, “The Cool Teacher Onzuka”, “Vasilisk” and “Papal Town” caused the most complaints. Cartoons accused of extremism, propaganda of pedophilia, ridicule over the Catholic Church. Then the conflict was resolved in favor of the channel, but in February the question again arose of the purity of his content.

Television men are not afraid of the possibility of new claims due to the appearance on the screens of the series with a racial shade. “Practice shows that our ill -wishers are able to find crime in the cartoon“ Well, wait a minute! ”,” Says Natalya Isakova, marketing director of the television channel. And Roman Sarkisov, Director General of 2x2, explained to the newspaper correspondent that the channel chose this animated series because it was “great”: “High-quality, funny, voiced by hip-hop stars, has very high ratings abroad; The ghetto is a great satire about a black family who laughs at herself. There is definitely no extremism there. ”

The Comic Creator African American Aaron McGreder initially wanted to make him scandalous. On the American official website of The Bondocks, it is emphasized that the cartoon is socially pointed, satirical and provocative. The topic of ethnic ghetto is not so close for the USA for domestic megacities, where the quarters are still not populated on a national basis. But today we are such that the idea of a “ghetto” is capable of both concentrating old accusations and provoking new ones. “We are not afraid of claims. What was in the fall is a simple provocation from the part of Pentecostals, religious sects, ”says Sarkisov. “The license was legally extended to us on the basis that we are doing absolutely normal things.”
