He healed to death

The doctor received a suspended term for negligence in Primorye, the therapist was convicted of negligence that entailed the death of a person. The Anuchinsky District Court of the Primorsky Territory sentenced the head of the therapeutic department of the Central Raibolar of the village of Anuchino Leonid Gurin to one and a half years in prison with a probationary period of one year. A doctor who has worked in medicine for more than 20 years is also deprived of the right to occupy administrative positions for a year.

According to the investigation, on December 9, 2004, a local resident came to an appointment with Gurin, who performed the duties of a local therapist, with complaints of poor health. The doctor sent the patient to an X -ray examination, as a result of which acute left -sided bronchopneumonia was revealed in the patient. According to the logic of things, the man should have immediately been hospitalized, but for some reason Gurin did not delve into the details of the patient's condition. According to the prosecutor's office of the region, the doctor, not interested in the results of an X -ray examination, without fully exploring the patient’s health, without making sure of the correctness of the preliminary diagnosis he had made and did not assess the severity of the patient's condition, refused him hospitalization.

Moreover, the therapist appointed the patient a course of treatment, which completely did not correspond to his disease. Also, the doctor did not determine the control time of re -reception.

After some time, the patient's condition worsened, and on October 24 last year the man again came to see Gurin. This time, the doctor nevertheless sent the patient to the hospital. The patient was there for two weeks, but during this time Gurin, who was the attending physician, again did not manage to organize appropriate treatment and deprived the patient with the opportunity to receive a qualified medical advice of doctors of other specialties. Moreover, on January 7, that is, two weeks after hospitalization, knowing that the patient was not getting better, Gurin wrote him out. At the same time, the therapist referred to the 14-day period for the treatment of pneumonia, established by the Federal Fund for Compulsory Medical Insurance. However, the patient’s wife managed to persuade Gurin to leave her husband under surveillance for another week, while entries in the medical history of the disease were not conducted from January 7 to 13. So, on January 14, the patient left the hospital, and two days later he died at home from pneumonia, complicated by the development of acute respiratory failure with pronounced intoxication. The conclusion of the forensic examination on the causes of death of the patient subsequently became one of the main evidence of the improper performance of Gurin of his medical duties. It is curious that the therapist, who completely forgot the main commandment of the doctor "do not harm", in a year will again be able to return to medical practice. After all, the court did not deprive Gurin of the right to engage in medical activity.
