Moscow said goodbye to Alexander Solzhenitsyn in the Donskoy Monastery, the funeral of Alexander Solzhenitsyn took place. The whole family of the writer gathered in the funeral service. The small cathedral was filled with people and could not accommodate everyone. The temple and a lawn around the grave are buried in living colors - these are wreaths and bouquets from the whole family and separately from the sons, daughter -in -law and granddaughter of Alexander Isaevich.

The mourning ceremony was attended by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who interrupted his vacation in order to say goodbye to the writer. For several minutes Dmitry Medvedev talked with Solzhenitsyn’s widow, expressed his condolences to his sons and relatives, RIA Novosti reports.

Many famous figures also came to say goodbye to Alexander Isaevich: Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, poetess Bella Akhmadulina, Solzhenitsyn's associate according to the Academy of Sciences and its President Yuri Osipov, Academician Evgeny Primakov, writer, laureate of the Solzhenitsyn Prize, Alexei Varlamov, head of the Russian publishing house in France, Imka-Press, where he first reached the first "Archipelago Gulag" Nikita Struve.

With a request to bury himself on the territory of the Don Monastery, Solzhenitsyn turned to Alexy II five years ago, recalls the Air Force. The patriarch blessed the fixing of the site behind the writer in this cemetery. Alexander Solzhenitsyn was buried in the central part of the old monastery cemetery behind the altar of the temple of John Climacus. The grave of Solzhenitsyn is located next to the burial place of the Russian historian Vasily Klyuchevsky.

On Monday, the memorial service for Alexander Solzhenitsyn was held in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Washington. The Nobel laureate lived in the United States for many years in exile. Over the past days, the words of sorrow and memory about Solzhenitsyn's death came from all over the world. The leaders of the USA, France, Germany, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Lithuania, Estonia and other countries expressed condolences. In memory of Solzhenitsyn, the symbol of the Italian capital, the Colosseum, by the decision of the mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno, was illuminated all the past night with spotlights radiating white light.

The Museum of Alexander Solzhenitsyn will be opened in Kislovodsk, where the Russian publicist and writer were born. The building, in which the museum will be opened, has yet to be determined, since the house related to the birth and early childhood of the writer has not been preserved, ITAR-TASS reported today in the Kislovodsk city administration. The museum can become the house of the neighbors of the Solzhenitsyn - Gorin.

The prose writer, public figure and laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature Solzhenitsyn died in Moscow on the night of August 4 at the 90th year of his life from acute heart failure.
