At the Slovenian nuclear power plant, there was a leak on the KRSHK nuclear power plant in Slovenia yesterday MAGAET experts arrived. They had to investigate the level of possible radioactive threat. On Wednesday evening, a leak from the first circuit of the cooling system occurred at the nuclear power plant. The European Commission resorted to the pan -European system of warning about radioactive danger.KRSHKO nuclear power plant, which installed the reactor of the American company Westinghouse Electric, was opened in 1983. According to the Slovenian authorities, the nuclear power plant operators discovered a malfunction at 3.07 local time and decided to stop the reactor. At 9.30, the stop process was completed. Slovenia warned the European Commission and the Magate about this incident. In addition, the International Atomic Agency separately warned the Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Italy bordering from the Slovenia.
The urgent exchange of information about radioactive threats of the EU (Ecurie) was officially approved by all 27 countries of the European Union, as well as Switzerland in 1987. According to this agreement, if in any EU country the slightest danger of this kind arises, the country has the right to notify the European Commission about this. Enlightenment is not mandatory, with the exception of cases when it comes to serious radioactive threats. This system does not use this system so often: for example, in 2006 and 2005, the European Union reported a common radioactive danger only twice.
However, according to the director of the KRSHKO NPP Stan Rozhman, there is no reason for concern. “The malfunction is determined, and we have already studied the possibility of eliminating problems,” he said. As Rozhman said, there was no leakage of radioactive substances to the environment.
The official representative of the European Commission for Energy Ferran Tarradladelas Espuno said yesterday that the EU welcomes any appeals within the framework of Ecurie, regardless of whether the incident deserves attention or not. “This is the best way to assure European citizens that in the event of any threat, security measures will be taken, and when the threat passes, people will be notified about this,” he said.
Yesterday's inspection of the IAEA established that the level of the threat that the KRSHKA reactor was subjected to was low, and according to the application of the nuclear power plant, all problems will be eliminated within a few days.
