15 Russians were detained by the Spanish police of 15 Russian sailors arrested by the police in the port of the Spanish city of Welva during the raid of drug dealers. So far, they are charged with violation of the labor legislation of Spain - they participated in the unloading of a Moroccan ship without a contract, on board of which 4 tons of hashs were discovered. In total, about 30 people were in custody. The police immediately notified the Russian Embassy in Spain of the detention of Russians. “So far we are in touch with the law enforcement agencies by telephone. At the beginning of the week, we will decide the issue of sending a representative of the embassy to Waelva,” the newspaper’s correspondent of the Press -Attas of the Embassy Sergei Oboznov told yesterday.
It is known that two fishing trawlers on which the detained sailors worked - Yuozas Aleksonis and Tralmeister Mogutov belong to the Archangel Trail Fleet OJSC (ATF). Its representatives explained to reporters that several years ago both vessels were leased to the Moorish entrepreneur Abbas Bugurbal, who tried to assign trawlers. The ATP fought for their return since 2004 and at the end of 2007 achieved a decision of the Spanish court in his favor. In December 2007, 60 Russian sailors were sent to Spain, whose task was to prepare ships for towing in one of the neighboring countries for repairs. However, the withdrawal of property was delayed due to the fact that the entrepreneur’s loser filed an appeal.
There is no connection with the detained sailors, neither Russian nor Spanish lawyers of the company are allowed to be allowed to them, so the circumstances of their detention are not yet completely clear. According to one version, the sailors hired on the unloading of ships in the local port, and drug dealers used them in a dark. Meanwhile, the representative of the Spanish gendarmerie said that the Russians are threatening long terms of imprisonment if their participation in drug dealership is established.
