In Moscow, a concert of the memory of Svyatoslav Knushevitsky will be held on February 13 in the Tchaikovsky concert hall will recall the outstanding Russian musician from the brilliant galaxy of the mid-twentieth century Svyatoslav Knushevitsky (1908-1963). He was called the last lyrics of the cello, because the sound of Knushevitsky is considered unique to this day.Svyatoslav Knushevitsky was a student of the same professor of the Moscow Conservatory Semyon Kozolupov, from whom Mstislav Rostropovich also studied. Unlike his famous classmate, Knushevitsky did not make a secular career, but was no less famous and respected. Most of all, he became famous in the trio with David Oistrach and Leonid Oborin. This was one of the best chamber ensembles of his time, which traveled the whole world. For him, they composed Maskovsky, Khachaturian, Vasilenko, Gedike, crayfish and other leading composers of the era. In addition, Knushevitsky also gave solo concerts, played in the Bolshoi Theater orchestra, and taught at the Moscow Conservatory.
In the concert of the famous cellist, where the Moscow Orchestra Pavel Kogan is properiary by the student of Dmitry Kitaenko Lin Tao, soloists will perform, for whom Knushevitsky has always been a creative guideline. This is Alexander Rudin - an outstanding modern cellist, pianist, conductor, enlightener, favorite of the capital's public. As well as the laureate of the Grand Prix of the Geneva competition Leonid Gorokhov, a graduate of the Leningrad Conservatory, living in the UK. He performed in Moscow only once, in 1995 with Joegudi Menukhin. We owe the participation of this venerable musician in an anniversary concert the great -grandson of Svyatoslav Knushevitsky - Sergey Suvorov.
Thanks to his grandfather Arseniy Lapisov, the eldest son of Knushevitsky, Sergey Suvorov continued family traditions. From the age of 15, he studied in London, choosing Stefan Popov, a student of Svyatoslav Knushevitsky, as mentors of the Bulgarian cellist. Now, being a laureate of prestigious British competitions, by 23 years, Suvorov is performed not only by a well -known, but also by a rare cello repertoire.
At the evening, Shostakovich’s first concert, Prokofiev’s concert, and a concert of Dvorzhak will be heard. Svyatoslav Knushevitsky always dreamed of playing these works. However, he never played: he was already preparing to execute the concert of the Dvorzhak, but did not live up to the performance of three days.
