75 years ago, December 27, 1932, an internal Soviet passport appeared. According to ITAR-TASS , the appearance of the passport changed several times, later a photograph appeared in it. The burgundy cover of the certificate was received by the familiar to the older generation in 1974. Our grandparents still remember the passports of the 1953 sample of a smaller format, with the cover of a dark green color, on which there were no letters "USSR". The Unified Passport System was introduced in a number of settlements of the Soviet Union on December 27, 1932. The issuance of passports was supposed to help the authorities strengthen control over the population, since the passports were originally issued only to residents of cities. Prior to this, the internal passport system in the Soviet Union did not exist.
It has been canceled since 1918 - the Bolsheviks considered the passport to the tsarist regime. However, with the promotion of the process of collectivization and dispossession in the village of authorities, they faced the problem of mass migration of peasants in the cities - rural residents hoped to escape there from hunger. A return to the passport system was to stop this stream of immigrants. Along with general civil passports in the USSR, general abroad passports, passports of a sailor, diplomatic passports, as well as identification of the personality of military personnel were also introduced. The last Soviet passports ceased to operate on the territory of the Russian Federation in July 2004, when everyone appeared familiar dark red books with a double-headed eagle on the cover
