Today in the capital the premiere of the film “Quantum of Mercy” will be held - another picture of agent 007, and in a week it will be released in a wide Russian rental. In Russia, they will see the new Bond simultaneously with the inhabitants of most European countries and even seven days earlier than Americans. Unfortunately, the distributors did not guess to precede the premiere with a repetition of the previous Bondian series - “Casino Royal”, which served the audience with the poor service. The fact is that for the first time in the history of the project, the film came out, as the television people would say, from the “vertical format”. This means that through the entire series through the actors pass, but the plot is each time independent, and accordingly, each film can be watched regardless of others.
This time, Bond performed by Daniel Craig takes revenge on that powerful organization that provoked the death of his lover (Eva Green) in the last series, and in this one attempted to live on the life of his beloved boss (Judy Dench). Revenge 007 is terrible-so that even colleagues from the CIA at some point turn into enemies and demand to remove the agent from the case. But it’s not such a bond to save before the enemy or pseudo -united - not particularly distracted by this time on a favorite cocktail (mix, but not to shake) or girls, the hero is steadily going to his goal, exterminating the enemies. He managed to “soak” most of them in Bolivia, he overtook the latter in Kazan. Moreover, here the audience who did not see or did not remember the “casino of the piano” will definitely not understand what the young man was guilty of this pleasant appearance.
Bond has become more tough-and now fights “in Patsani”, and not in a gentlemanly, as was the case with Sir Sean Connery, and his girls are more than a person from the first films. However, in this picture “Girls” in the traditional Bond -based sense, the agent does not. He preserves the loyalty to his girlfriend who died in the last series and does not fall in love with any. With a colleague from British intelligence (due to the intrigues of the CIA, she was instructed to stop the Bond operation and deliver the agent home) he has a certain semblance of a romantic relationship, but the enemies will be drowned too quickly to the beauty-reconnaissance in oil-and the feeling does not have time to get stronger. And the “main” girl, Olga Kurilenko, is more like a commissar from “optimistic tragedy” than her predecessors from Bond films.
She is an employee of Bolivian intelligence, and she also moves revenge: the organization that deprived Bond of the lover killed her family. So this time the heroes unite the community of interests, and not at all “the main instinct” - unless, of course, by the main instinct does not mean a passion for murder.
The authors retreated from their principle - to the role of Bond girl to look for an actress of the same nationality or at least from the same region as her heroine. Kurilenko was born in Berdyansk. When the girl turned 16, her mother took her to Moscow: show her Tretyakov Gallery and Bolshoi Theater. In the subway, a woman approached them and invited Olga to try herself as a model. Despite her mother’s resistance, she agreed. And two years later she went to Paris, where she was very quickly noticed in the modeling world. First - the podium, then - the covers of fashion magazines, and then Olga decided that she wanted to be an actress, and began to break into the cinema. “Quantum of Mercy” is the 11th work of her work (those who saw the Almanac “Paris, I love you” may remember Kurilenko as a vampire). Moreover, Olga was sure that she failed the sample and did not like the director Mark Forster. She found out that she was approved at Christmas. Then - several months of training almost according to the Cosmonauts program, and now - on the screen a warlike dull. By the way, for the sake of the role of Camille (which, by the way, she herself voiced in the Russian version), Kurilenko performed a real acting feat - she knit her natural beauty. The transformation into a Bolivica destroyed both the delicate complexion of the face and the touching fragility, which in life is in its entirety. But, appearing in the image of a woman-warrior, Kurilenko secured herself from possible comparisons with the heroine of the “casino piano” performed by Eve Green.
But the “quantum of mercy” as a whole will not be able to avoid comparison with the predecessor, especially since they actually act in the format of the dilogy. And it is unlikely that this comparison will be in favor of a new picture. The point, of course, is not that the eminent director Mark Forster (“Monster Ball”, “Magic Country”, “Running behind the Wind”) was not enough to master the project: on the contrary, several chases and shootings from his picture will clearly enter the Bond gold fund. But if the “casino of the piano” was a classic Fleming story (not without reason Quentin Tarantino was fooling his head for a long time that he wanted to shoot this film), then “Quantum of Merciful” is the most typical drama remake with a mass of architectural excesses in the form of side line lines and secondary heroes that arise or mentioned incomprehensible why.
