Before reading the entire book “Winter of Despair,” I had already read introductory passages, which, I must admit, strongly aroused my curiosity and desire to read the book in its entirety.

Having a rough idea of ​​what will be discussed, I cannot help but notice the gradual increase in tension, the intensity of events, which makes it absolutely impossible to stop reading. We are presented with a good, solid detective story, with a set of characters whose character and inclinations are revealed during the reading process. The hero is a lone wolf, a police investigator, in cramped life circumstances, forced to deny himself many things, he is a person with extensive life experience. Details of the origin and present circumstances of the hero help us understand his motivation, as if to look at the world through his eyes.

In the detective story, the development of all characters without exception is observed; they are brought out by the author as living people with their own feelings, emotions, and life experiences.

It is also impossible not to note a huge advantage of the book - well-verified historical details. We find ourselves during the action of the book, consider the development of the plot in the inseparable context of historical events, see the life of the past in cross-section using the example of the actions of the characters in the book.

Everything that happens to the main characters looks quite logical in the course of the story, and I look forward to continuing the hero’s adventures. It remains to wish him success and the realization of his life aspirations, because he has already realized that private detectives do exist.
