American scientists claim that the concept of “healthy tanning” does not exist. Skin pigmentation caused by sun exposure is always an injury. And the longer and stronger a person sunbathes, for example in a solarium, the more serious it is.
“Artificial sun” leads to the formation of melanoma (malignant tumor), as well as other skin tumors. Advertisements often claim that a winter tan is necessary in northern latitudes, where there is little sunlight. However, many experts say that stimulating melanin production in the winter in a solarium is not very useful, because it does not correspond to the characteristics of the body of residents of the northern regions.
Often, solarium is not combined with certain medications. By interacting with ultraviolet radiation, substances such as sulfonamides, which are usually used in the treatment of colds (for example, biseptol), form compounds harmful to the body. Also, many antibiotics, allergy medications, diuretics, blood pressure lowering agents, and tranquilizers are not compatible with tanning.
In case of influenza and acute respiratory infections, an overdose of ultraviolet radiation suppresses the human immune system, which means that after sunbathing it is easier to catch a cold, and the illness will last longer and be more severe.
