Steven Spielberg was born on December 18, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Stephen became interested in cinema in early childhood: the first films in his director's filmography date back to 1959 - then he was only 12 years old, which means that he picked up a camera much earlier than that age.
Having directed the short film Amblin' (1968) in 1968, he attracted attention and was hired by Universal. There he took part in the filming of various series and television films.
His directorial debut on the big screen was The Sugarland Express (1974), which received very good reviews from critics. However, only the next film - “Jaws” / Jaws, 1975 / brought Spielberg world fame and universal recognition. The subsequent Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) also became a smash hit and one of the highest-grossing films of that period.
The film "1941" /1979/, shot in 1979, failed at the box office and became one of the very rare failures of Spielberg - the most successful (from a commercial point of view) director in the entire history of Hollywood.
Released 2 years later, the first of 3 episodes about the adventures of Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark, 1981 - proved that Spielberg knows how to make 100% hits.
However, the most popular film in the States in the 1980s was undoubtedly the film directed by Spielberg in 1982: “ET: The Extra-Terrestrial, 1982” became the favorite film of a whole generation, and young Drew Barrymore and a number of other children who starred in this film became the subject of universal adoration by Americans.
Around the same time (or a little earlier), Stephen founded his own film company, Amblin Entertainment, and began actively producing promising projects. With his participation, more than 100 paintings were released, many of which were extremely popular. This includes Back to the Future, 1985, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, 1988, directed by Robert Zemeckis, Gremlins, 1984, Twister, 1996, Men in Black, 1997, “Deep Impact” /Deep Impact, 1998/, “The Mask of Zorro” /The Mask of Zorro, 1998/ and many many others.
1993 was the year of triumph for Spielberg as a director. Jurassic Park (1993) broke all sorts of records, grossing nearly $1 billion and becoming the highest-grossing film in Hollywood history at the time. And the film “Schindler's List” / Schindler's List, 1993/, released in the same year, brought Spielberg a long-awaited statuette: among the 7 Oscars won, there were nominations for “Film of the Year” and “Best Director”.
Eight years later, in 1998, Spielberg again conquered the American Film Academy, this time with the film Saving Private Ryan (1998), which brought the creators 5 Oscars, in the categories of Best Director, Best Cinematography and some others, but he failed to become the best film of the year - Shakespeare in Love intervened. 1998/.
