Astafiev Viktor Petrovich

Born on May 1, 1924 in Siberia, in the village of Ovsyanka, Krasnoyarsk Territory. Father Peter Pavlovich Astvfiev. Potyltsin's mother Lydia Ilyinichna.
In 1942 he graduated from the FZO Railway School.
After graduating from school, FZO worked for four months as a train compiler at the Bazaikha station and volunteered for the army.
In 1942-1943 he studied at the infantry school in Novosibirsk.
In the spring of 1943 he was sent to the front line and remained an ordinary soldier until the very end of the war. At the front he was awarded the Order of the Red Star and the medal "For Courage".
In 1945, after the hospital, he married M.S. Koryakina and settled with his family in the town of Chusovaya, Perm Region.
After the Great Patriotic War, he was a station attendant at the Chusovoy station, a storekeeper, and a mechanic.
From September 1950 to April 1951 he worked as an auxiliary worker at the Chusovsky meat processing plant. At the same time, he attended a literary circle at the Chusovskoy Rabochiy newspaper.
In 1951, the newspaper first published the story “A Civil Man,” and in the same year V.P. Astafiev moved to the position of literary employee of the newspaper. Over the four years of work at the Chusovskoy Rabochiy newspaper, he wrote more than a hundred correspondence, articles, essays, and over two dozen stories.
In 1958 he was admitted to the Writers' Union. Since 1962 he has been a professional writer.
In 1961 he graduated from the Higher Literary Courses at the Literary Institute. A.M. Gorky.

In 1975, for the stories: “The Pass”, “The Last Bow”, “Theft”, “The Shepherd and the Shepherdess” - the writer was awarded the State Prize of the RSFSR. M. Gorky.
In 1978, he was awarded the USSR State Prize for his narration in the stories “The Fish Tsar”.
In 1980 V.P. Astafiev was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. In the same year he was admitted to the Academy of Creativity.
In 1989-1991 - People's Deputy of the USSR. Secretary of the USSR Writers' Union (1991), vice-president of the European Forum writers' association. Honorary citizen of the cities of Igarka and Krasnoyarsk. Full member of the International Academy of Creativity, honorary professor of Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical University.
In 1992, he became a laureate of the State Prize for the story “The Sighted Staff”.
In 1995, for his works V.P. Astafiev was awarded the independent “Triumph” prize.
In 1996, he was awarded the Russian State Prize for his novel “Cursed and Killed.”
In 1998, a collection of the author's works was published in fifteen volumes. Distributed in the free press and by subscription.
In 1999 he was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.

Married.
Wife - Maria Semyonovna Koryakina - participant in the Great Patriotic War, writer, author of 12 books, including "Father", "On Foot from the War", "Century Linden Tree".
Children: Irina Viktorovna (b. 1948), Andrey Viktorovich (b. 1950).
