Born on June 27, 1983 in the city of Bugulma (Tatarstan), her family soon moved to the north, where she lived until she was 9 years old, and then went to study in England.
In England, Alsou was able to overcome the language barrier quite easily and now speaks English better than Russian, and even thinks in English.
Alsou's first performance took place at a summer camp, where she went with her girlfriend. At the final evening, a friend literally forced the shy Alsou to go on stage, where she performed a song from Whitney Houston’s repertoire “I will always love you”, and after this performance everyone unanimously began to say that Alsou should sing on a professional stage. A friend of her mother introduced the future singer to producer Valery Belotserkovsky.
On February 1, 1999, a truly big premiere took place - the public saw Alsou’s first video for the song “Winter Dream”.
At the end of April the following video “Spring” appeared, and in August a video for the song “Sometimes” appeared. All three songs were written by one author - poet and composer Alexander Shevchenko, and the director of all videos is Yuri Grymov.
Alsou is currently studying at MPW College, where he is learning the profession of architect-designer.
Alsou graduated from elementary music school and is now continuing her piano and singing lessons with a teacher. Alsou is also involved in languages: she already speaks French almost perfectly, is mastering Italian and plans to restore the Tatar she spoke in childhood.
Alsou became the first singer in the history of Russian show business to enter into a long-term contract with the Western record company “Universal”.

The name Alsou means “rose water” in Tatar.
