Valery Meladze was born in 1965 in Batumi. He began to study music while studying at the Batumi Shipbuilding Institute, which he graduated in 1987. In 1990, Valery, together with his brother Konstantin, created the group “Dialogue”, which in 1991 released the album “In the Middle of the World” at the Melodiya company, and in 1993 in Germany “Dialogue” at the Solo Florentrin company recorded another album "Autumn Hawk Cry" In 1992, Valery became a prize-winner of the television competition “Step to Parnassus”. After leaving Dialog in 1993, Valery and Konstantin took up a solo program: from that moment on, Valery performed only songs written by Konstantin, being at the same time the author of lyrics and arranger. At the Rock Savaniya festival in Kyiv in 1993, Valery Meladze made his solo debut, and at the same festival Valery met producer Evgeny Fridlyand, with whom he signed a contract.
In 1995, Meladze's first solo album, "Sera", was released, instantly making him famous. This album included the previously recorded song “Don’t disturb my soul, violin,” which had already become a hit, which, together with the song “Sera,” made Meladze famous. Four songs from the album “Sera” (“Don’t disturb my soul with the violin,” “Sera,” “Midsummer,” “The Night Before Christmas”) were used to make videos that contributed to the singer’s unusually rapid success. In 1996, two more video clips were released (“How beautiful you are today,” “Girls from high society”) based on songs from Meladze’s next album, “The Last Romantic.”
In 1998, perhaps the singer’s most famous album appeared, with his most famous song, “Samba of the White Moth.” In 1999, a collection of the best songs, "The Best", was published. In addition to the already known songs, this collection contains a new hit by Valery Meladze - “Beautiful”, for which a video is immediately shot. At the same time, the new composition “Queen of the Highway,” which belongs more to the rock genre than to the pop genre, immediately gains success on the radio. A video is also being filmed, this time an animated one.
And at the end of 1999, a new album was released with new songs - “Everything was so,” “Take care of yourself, my angel,” “Show business.” Videos for the songs “Dream” and “Rassvetnaya” are being filmed.
Now Valery Meladze sings only in Russian, but not so long ago the singer said that his long-standing dream was to sing a song in his native language, that is, in Georgian.
Valery Meladze is one of the most famous modern Russian pop performers. He has a voice of a very wide range and rare timbre.
