Migrants began to come to Russia even more actively - they began to be paid more

In Russia, the wages of foreign workers have doubled – such data was provided by the Migrant Service platform, citing statistics for 2023.
Handymen, packers, and loaders began to earn more. Wages for couriers, cleaning service employees, and bakery workers increased by 30 percent. The income of, for example, a handyman is indicative. In January 2023, he received a little over 70 thousand, and in December of the same year it was already 140 thousand. The income of the packers was also surprising. For the year, for comparison, there were 75 thousand, now it’s 130 thousand and above. It is clear that migrants came and are coming to us because of high salaries. Is the data about the increase in their income consistent with reality? “Interlocutor” asked the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Yaroslav Nilov, about the state of affairs.
“We must understand that our citizens are not ready under any circumstances to go to work where foreigners work,” explains Nilov. – This is a big problem: employers are generally not ready to increase wages, knowing that they will always find foreign workers to replace our Russians. But we have to raise it. The law of the market: when there is demand, then it dictates the amount of remuneration. It's like IT people. They do everything right and dictate their terms to the world, since there is a huge demand for them everywhere - pay.
“I was offered a job at a Yandex warehouse for 80 thousand,” one of the foreign workers, Khurshed G., told Interlocutor. “I refused, why? They are now raising more than 150 thousand by courier. I don’t agree to anything less, I came here to earn money, not to lie on the couch.”
Experts emphasize that today, for example, delivery services are actively developing, and it is not surprising that the salary of specialists in this field cannot be small. Demand is growing, the number of workers is increasing. The number of orders is also growing. Many construction workers left for delivery. In fact, it turns out that today’s couriers are yesterday’s construction workers, too. Whatever one may say, life puts everything in its place.
