I came to the play “Quixote and Sancho” by chance: an administrator I knew invited me to increase the audience. Tickets cost up to 500 rubles, I ordered two for two hundred, just in case I asked what kind of performance it was. An acquaintance replied that this thing was for the intellectual elite and extremely original: firstly, there was a horse, sorry, defecating in oranges, and secondly, the midget Sannikovs were playing.
The audience was truly special - aesthetic theatergoers, for whom everything was already insipid and they came to look at the new product. Students of theater universities, several pensioners and schizophrenics. Oksana Mysina presented her directorial debut, in which she herself played the role of Sancho.
First, the little husband and wife Sannikovs came out, then the two-meter-tall Quixote and the very tall Sancho appeared. The long philosophical monologues, which I tried to think about and look for double meanings throughout the entire performance, were so stressful that I had a headache. The decoration was symbolic, and I was always afraid that the light structure made of planks would fall when Sancho on one side and Quixote on the other climbed onto it. Then Quixote was watered, then he himself was watered. They probably really liked how clever and intricate they came up with it all. Then the Sannikovs climbed to the top of the structure and thought about what they were now in the depths of their souls...
And I kept waiting for the horse with oranges to appear. The action was slowly approaching the end, from tension and anticipation I wanted to eat and sleep, but the horse was still not there.
Finally, instead of a horse, two people appeared on the stage, covered with a white blanket. The “horse” began to move sideways across the stage, but there were still no oranges. When? And why? And how much? Real or fake? This worried me the most.
And suddenly - oh, miracle! — the fruit actually fell out right from under the washcloth, i.e. tail They fell onto the stage one after another, and Oksana Mysina quickly picked them up and threw them into the audience. Many caught it, cleaned it and ate it right away...
At the end of the performance, the actors sat in a group, beautiful paintings appeared on the screen, and with them a text about what imagination is and what it gives to a person. I only remembered: “Power gives a person everything, but takes away imagination,” “The director is the creator of beauty.” Everyone has their own concept of beauty, Oksana Mysina has this.
Maybe I just don't have enough imagination? Go and judge for yourself.
