When it comes to environmental protection, the phrases that come to mind are: “Take care of your mother’s nature” and “The earth is our common home.” And also general words about environmental pollution, the negative impact of humans on it, etc.
For general cleaning
It's time to be accepted on Earth!
What's the use of our talking shop?
Nature is crying for itself!
June 5 – World Day
environment
Yes, the words, although general, are true. Don't you see that nature takes revenge on us - sudden changes in temperature, abnormal weather, natural disasters, etc. Yes, exactly revenge. Nature is hurting from our boorish treatment of it! Especially in cities.
City and human health
It is known that city dwellers get sick much more often than rural residents: sedentary lifestyle, highly polluted air, etc. A resident of a metropolis is constantly in contact with a huge number of people, so he is more likely to catch an infection, and due to conflict and stressful situations, cardiovascular diseases, stomach ulcers, etc. occur more often. Excessive urban noise can cause nervous exhaustion, mental depression, autonomic neurosis, peptic ulcers, disorders of the endocrine and cardiovascular systems.
This is how urban diseases appeared. City dwellers suffer from allergies 10–30 times more often than villagers. Tuberculosis, neurological and cardiovascular diseases - 5–6 times. Diseases of the digestive system and intestines are 3–5 times more common. Low intake of vitamins leads to a decrease in overall immunity, and therefore an increase in other diseases.
Is it possible to avoid this?
Can. In many ways, the health of a city dweller depends on himself. You need to spend more time in the fresh air, go out into nature more often, engage in physical education and sports, carefully monitor hygiene and nutrition, and do hardening.
But the main doctor of cities can only be green spaces.
After all, in addition to aesthetic, they also perform another, main function - sanitary and hygienic. They purify the air from gases, heavy metals, various aerosols, saturate it with oxygen, soften the city’s microclimate, improving the temperature and increasing air humidity, absorb noise, release phytoncides (substances that kill bacteria), and have a beneficial aesthetic effect: filling the asphalt concrete landscape of the city, they relieve our stress.
"A Billion Trees"
Common phrases again? May be. And actions can be specific (albeit also simple). Let's plant one tree each, at least not far from our home or place of work. Or better yet, along the road, near industrial zones and enterprises, in city centers. And it will become easier for us to breathe, and we will return our debt to nature.
By the way
The capital of World Environment Day (celebrated on June 5) in 2009 was Mexico City, one of the main partners of the UN's Billion Trees program for the environment. The goal of the project is to encourage every person on the planet to plant more than one tree. It's not in vain!
