It turns out that in ancient China, bells were used as money. In the Western Zhou era, bronze money began to be cast in the form of bells, knives, and hoes. Some kingdoms used silver and gold money in the shape of a shoe. And during the Qin Dynasty (221–206 BC), round bronze coins with holes, the so-called chokhs, came into circulation. The hole allowed coins to be threaded onto the cord. They remained in circulation for over 2,000 years.
