Colpitis is an inflammatory disease of the vaginal mucosa. Why does it arise?
Colpitis is an inflammatory disease of the vaginal mucosa.
Why does it arise
The cause of inflammation is most often sexually transmitted infections, thrush, as well as the vagina’s own flora, which begins to actively multiply against the background of decreased immunity or hypothermia. Colpitis, especially of fungal origin, can be caused by uncontrolled use of antibiotics, intoxication and failure to comply with personal hygiene rules.
How does it manifest itself?
In acute colpitis, the first thing a woman pays attention to is discomfort in the vaginal area, itching and burning. There may be discharge, the color of which depends on the infection. With candidiasis (that is, thrush), they are white, and with chlamydia -
dirty gray.
Viral colpitis is characterized by increased body temperature and enlarged inguinal lymph nodes.
How to find out
Based on characteristic complaints, examination data (upon examination, the vaginal mucosa is red and swollen, mucus or a grayish coating on the vaginal walls may be observed) and the results of a smear examination of the vaginal mucosa.
Who treats
Gynecologist.
What to do
Depending on the pathogen, antibacterial, antiviral, or antifungal medications may be recommended. This is why you should not self-medicate. You should consult a doctor who can select adequate treatment that minimizes the likelihood of chronic inflammation.
Traditional treatment
In addition to medications, traditional medicine recipes can also be used.
Herbal infusion
Mix herbs in the following proportions: 1 part each of St. John's wort herb, stinging nettle leaf, buckthorn bark and 2 parts each of common thyme herb, coltsfoot leaf and calamus rhizomes. Add 2 tbsp. l. collection in a thermos, pour 0.5 liters of boiling water and let it brew overnight. Strain and take 100 ml three times a day for acute colpitis.
Chamomile baths
5 tbsp. l. pour chamomile with a liter of boiling water. Let it brew for half an hour, strain and pour into a bowl of warm water. Take a sitz bath, adding hot water periodically, for 15-20 minutes once a day before bed.
Douchings from sage
Brew 1.5 tbsp. l. sage with a glass of boiling water and let it brew for half an hour. Then strain and use for warm douching twice a day - morning and evening. It is recommended to carry out this procedure before inserting suppositories and medicinal tampons - the infusion cleanses the vaginal walls of mucus and prepares them for the effects of medications.
