I saw propolis at a honey fair, which was sold in pieces. Why is it needed and what effect does it have on the body? I will be very grateful for your answer.

– Propolis, or bee glue, is a product that bees create using the resinous substances of birch, aspen and poplar. Moreover, in the northern regions, bees collect propolis mainly from birch and aspen trees, and in the southern regions, propolis is typical from different types of poplar. Bees use propolis to seal cracks in the hive, narrow the openings of the hive during cold weather, and coat all objects that cannot be removed from the hive. For example, a mouse that died in a hive is mummified to prevent decomposition. Propolis looks like a resinous, sticky substance of dark brown, brown, sometimes greenish color.
The smell of propolis is pleasant, vaguely reminiscent of the aroma of resin or poplar buds, the taste is bitter, causing numbness of the tongue. In composition, it is a complex composition of plant resins, essential oils, balms, flavonoids, alcohols and phenols. Also contains wax and mechanical impurities. In folk medicine it was used as a remedy for toothache, and for rheumatic pain it was applied to a sore spot. Surprisingly, the most important property of propolis - its antimicrobial effect - has been used very little in folk medicine. There was a recipe for blowing smoke from annealed propolis into a sore ear.
Broad-spectrum antibiotic
So propolis can be called a natural antibiotic with a wide spectrum of action. This is explained by the richness of the composition of bee glue. It contains 16 classes of organic substances, or more than 100 biologically active compounds, many of which have not yet been fully studied.
It also has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Thus, rinsing the mouth with a propolis solution causes pronounced anesthesia of the oral cavity after 15 minutes. Propolis also has an antioxidant effect, which by improving metabolism in the body leads to an increase in life expectancy.
What if it's alcohol?
My neighbor takes a propolis solution in alcohol. He says that he knows an effective remedy for rejuvenating the body, but does not tell the secret of rejuvenation. Can propolis really cause rejuvenation of the body?
Evgenia Bubnova, Barnaul
– Evgeniya, I don’t know what and how your neighbor takes, but I can say that there is a very effective scheme for using propolis and garlic extract. To do this:
200 g of peeled garlic cloves (not Chinese, but preferably from your own garden) should be infused in 100 g of alcohol in a dark place for 20 days. Add another 50 g of acacia honey and 10 g of 30% propolis in alcohol.
Take this remedy strictly according to the following scheme: 3 times a day - morning, lunch and evening in a small amount of milk, starting with 1 drop and adding a drop at each dose up to 15 (this will happen on the 5th day). Then reduce 1 drop for each dose to 1 (this will be on the 10th day). Then increase again by 1 drop to 15. The course of treatment in this way will take 15 days. This rejuvenation scheme was created on the basis of an ancient recipe found in a Tibetan monastery by a UNESCO expedition in 1975.
Taking this drug improves the condition of blood vessels, normalizes the composition of blood plasma, prevents the development of angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and strokes, and rejuvenates the body as a whole.
Of course, treatment according to this scheme will require concentration and a certain perseverance, which is so difficult in our hectic age...
Turns out
Propolis, when compared with other products of natural origin, is called by scientists an “antioxidant bomb”, because the content of substances with this activity in it is 60–75%.
IMPORTANT: the antimicrobial effect is truly unique. Judge for yourself: there are no microorganisms resistant to the action of propolis. It also kills many viruses, lower fungi and bacteria.
