Parametritis is an inflammation of the tissue surrounding the uterus. Why does it occur and how to treat it?
Parametritis is inflammation of the tissue surrounding the uterus .
Why does it arise
Most often it is a complication of childbirth or abortion. The infection can also enter the tissue from other inflamed organs (ovaries, bladder, etc.) along with the blood or lymph flow.
How does it manifest itself?
a sharp increase in body temperature, pain in the lower abdomen, increased urination and a false urge to defecate. The disease can be complicated by the formation of an abscess, or, more simply, an abscess in the abdominal cavity. In the event of such a complication, the patient’s condition sharply worsens, the pain becomes more intense, and the temperature becomes higher.
How to find out
During the examination, the doctor palpates a dense formation in the uterine area. An ultrasound can detect inflammatory changes - thickening and loosening of the tissue around it.

What to do
Hospitalization to a gynecological hospital is recommended. The woman is prescribed bed rest and antibacterial agents.
