Cork birth
Childbirth in a special maternity room, and even in the presence of a loving spouse, is the dream of every expectant mother. It could also come true for 31-year-old Muscovite Natasha Churinova. The woman was going to give birth to her son in just such an environment. But it turned out “a little” differently. She gave birth to a child in the car, and her husband Gennady Churinov delivered the baby. The baby was born in a terrible traffic jam, at the 63rd kilometer of the Moscow Ring Road, not far from the intersection with Rublevskoye Shosse, to the accompaniment of the irritated horns of surrounding cars.
Putin ruined all plans
The contract for childbirth concluded by the Churinovs with maternity hospital No. 10, on Azovskaya Street, coincided in only one point - the birth took place in the presence of the husband. Moreover, he had to not only witness the birth of a person, but also take a direct part in this difficult task - as an obstetrician-gynecologist, which was not at all included in the terms of the contract. So the doctors at the maternity hospital, where the event was supposed to take place, failed to fulfill their duties. The doctors met Natasha, Gena and their baby already at the threshold of the clinic. Churinov Jr. was one hour old by that time. It was on November 11 at approximately 11.10.
In the morning, Gena and Natasha packed everything the newborn and mother needed into a large bag and went to the hospital, ferrying their eight-year-old son Ilyusha to his grandmother along the way. There seemed to be plenty of time before the birth. Who knew that their second son would be born so quickly?
As Gennady later said, they drove along the Moscow Ring Road precisely because they were afraid of getting into a traffic jam. As it turned out, it was not just anyone who helped them, but Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin himself, who that morning, as usual, was rushing along Rublyovka to work along with several escort cars. For this reason, the highway was tightly blocked. And the drivers who happened to be in this place at that time stood waiting for the head of state to pass for an hour and a half.
The birth began unexpectedly, when it was no longer possible to taxi out of the general machine herd. After the first contractions, Natasha realized that her baby’s intentions were more than serious and she couldn’t make it to the hospital in time. She grabbed the phone and dialed the rescuers' number. They helped as much as they could. An ambulance was sent to the scene, but it turned out to be useless. While the car was making its way through the traffic jam, Gennady delivered the baby himself under the strict guidance of the MCC operator and “telephone” doctors.
The Churinovs' neighbors did not miss the traffic jam. When Natasha’s heart-rending scream was heard from the interior of the gray Nexia, people poured out of the cars, and within a few seconds the foreign car was taken into a tight ring of curious people. The feeling was that obstetricians and gynecologists with twenty years of experience were stuck in a jam, since everyone considered it their duty to give useful advice. Gennady at first tried to neutralize the army of volunteer helpers, but soon gave up this thankless task, completely switching to his wife and the rescue doctor who instructed him over the phone. Gennady Churinov will probably never forget the next 40 minutes, and in general, this story will become a family legend. Already has.
Mom is a hero. Dad too
“The entire staff was aware that one of the women in labor did not reach us,” says Elena Ozimovskaya, head physician of the 10th maternity hospital. - In general, out-of-hospital birth is not such a rare occurrence, but for something like this to happen in a traffic jam... You don’t even know what to say! In a word, well done Natasha! And her husband Gennady too. Men, when their wives give birth in front of their eyes, often need a doctor themselves, and he coped with everything no worse than our obstetricians.
To the surprise of the doctors, both mother and child turned out to be absolutely healthy. After giving birth in a car, their shelter was a small ward on the first floor. With amenities, a TV, a refrigerator and a view of Sevastopol Avenue with workers digging up the free hospital space around the perimeter, about twenty meters from the hospital windows. Although they assured me at the Family Insurance Company, the head of the commercial part of maternity hospital No. 10, that neither the roar of the big city nor the intricate verbal constructions of the builders could break through the double plastic frame, I found it hard to believe. Moreover, only eight family-type rooms on the upper, 3rd and 4th floors are equipped with such cool frames. This is when anyone she wants to see next to her can hang out with the mother and baby in the maternity hospital. Just over 28 thousand rubles is all happiness. Natasha was in an individual ward for 15 thousand and a few kopecks. And her window boasted a classic, slightly shabby wooden frame. However, the newborn boy probably didn’t care about all this: he was born to approximately the same “polyphony”. A happy mother every now and then takes him out of the crib, picks him up and walks with him around the room. Dad doesn’t forget about them either - the window sill is filled with all kinds of dairy goodies.
“The boy turned out to be calm, he doesn’t complain about anything, his appetite is excellent,” the happy mother shared with us. - He eats and sleeps. I feel good too. Although, when labor began, I was seriously scared.
Natasha didn’t show us the boy - they say it’s a bad omen. But, apparently, the guy is a real hero: 3 kilograms 600 grams with a height of 47 centimeters.
- This mother is a real celebrity among us! — one of the nannies, Tatyana Tarasovna, opened up. - What happened to her, poor thing! My husband is an experienced driver, he’s been behind the wheel all his life, he says that even driving in traffic jams is scary. And she had to give birth there!
Her husband was not himself, pale, and terribly worried. I still didn’t want to go home. Probably, if he decided to spend the night with us, we would make an exception for him.
Gennady didn’t want to share his impressions with us, and he didn’t have time for journalists - dad was in over his head until mom was discharged. He turned out to be completely different from the hero - short, thin, with a quiet voice. We met on November 17, shortly before Natasha was discharged; he brought her a large bouquet of flowers.
The couple have not yet figured out what to name the baby. Natasha would like Genoa, in honor of her father. But the final decision will be made by the family council as soon as the newborn arrives home.
