The Otsego (Oswego) Indians widely used Monarda as a tea to strengthen their strength and treat many diseases.
In the wild, monarda grows in forest clearings in North America, in Mexico. When Columbus discovered America, among many other exotic plants, monarda came to Spain, and from there it spread throughout Europe. It got its name from the name of the doctor Nicholas Monardes, who published a book about strange plants of the New World at the end of the 16th century.
