Do the upcoming holidays excite your imagination and lift your spirits? But greasy sofas and stains on armchairs are depressing? It's time to start cleaning.
First, remember the basic rule: it is not recommended to wash the upholstery - neither by hand nor in a washing machine on a delicate cycle. No matter what the manufacturer promises, the covers can still shrink a little or become deformed during the drying process. Upholstered furniture should be cleaned with soapy water using a sponge or soft brush. Nowadays, you can also purchase special detergents for upholstery - with this approach , upholstered furniture will last you much longer.
And now regarding pollution. Each stain requires an individual approach and method of removal.
Coffee
Wash the upholstery with soapy water and then blot it several times with a dry cloth until the stain disappears.
Fruit juice
Apply a mixture of vinegar and ammonia to stains left by fruit juice. Wait until it dries and brush it off. After this, to remove the smell, you can wash the upholstery with soapy water and spray with perfume. Don’t forget to also ventilate the apartment well.
Red wine
If you spill wine on the sofa, you should blot the stain with a napkin as quickly as possible and cover it with salt. The salt will absorb the wine, and all you have to do is clean and vacuum the upholstery - the upholstered furniture is saved.
White wine
Add 1/4 methyl alcohol to 3/4 water, mix and apply to the stain. Then dry and rinse again, but with soapy water.
Beer
First, wash the stain with soapy water, and then apply a vinegar solution prepared at the rate of 2 tbsp. l. vinegar per liter of water. Let it dry, rinse with clean water and dry again.
Blood
Blood is known to be best removed with cold water.
Chewing gum
Cover the gum with a bag of ice cubes, cool thoroughly, and scrape off with a blunt object. Do not use a knife; it may break and damage the upholstery. Then apply methyl alcohol to the stain and blot with a dry cloth.
Chocolate
Clean the dry chocolate stain and wipe with a cloth soaked in warm soapy water. Then blot the upholstery with a dry cloth.
Candle wax
After a romantic evening or holiday, you can often see drops of wax on the upholstery. Don't worry, you can remove it without any problems. Crush and scrape the wax off the couch. Cover the remaining stain with a blotting cloth and iron it with an iron. If the mark is still visible, soak a rag in a trichlor solution and blot the stain.
Jam
Make a soap solution, add a little vinegar to it and wash the stain with the resulting mixture. Then dry and rinse again with clean water. And so on until there is no trace left of the stain.
Ink
Wash the ink with acetone and dry. But first, try acetone on the upholstery in some inconspicuous place. If the upholstery has not reacted, then you can safely move on to the stain. After the acetone has dried, rinse the sofa with clean water.
