Samara veterinarians performed a unique operation to save the dog’s leg.

The dog lived in the parking lot, his name was Rex. One day something bad happened: Rex was hit by a huge KAMAZ truck.
“I myself didn’t see the moment of the accident, the client called me,” recalls the guard who sheltered the dog, Yuri Ogorodnikov. – I came running, I saw our Rex lying on the lawn, I thought: that’s it! And he recognized me and tried to get up...
It was then that a terrible picture appeared to Yuri: the dog’s hind leg was dangling on a piece of skin. Other employees also arrived. Rex was picked up and taken to the city veterinary clinics. But wherever they knocked, they heard a refusal - no one dared to take on such a complex operation. Or I just didn't want to. In the end, the unfortunate animal was admitted to the Zoo clinic.

“I have never performed a more complex operation in my life,” shares the head physician of the clinic, Mikhail Egorov. “The dog suffered greatly: the wound was in terrible condition, all the ligaments were torn, the bones were crushed.
Together with surgeon Maria Zhimolostnova, Egorov did something that no Samara veterinarian had ever done before. They literally pieced together the bone crushed by the heavy truck and painstakingly sewed up the damaged tissue. The hardest work lasted six hours. Moreover, they did not charge Rex’s owner a penny for the operation. They donated the entire parking lot for medicines for the convalescent.
Everything he experienced was not easy for Rex. The dog didn’t eat anything, just lay there and licked the wound. He's become terribly thin. In the parking lot they even began to think about amputation to alleviate his suffering. But now all this is behind us: the dog, as before, rushes around the parking lot, joyfully meeting his beloved car owners - those who constantly brought him various goodies while he was sick. Sometimes his savior, Dr. Mikhail Egorov, visits him.
