I would like to remind you that recently the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Nurgaliev, promised to end corruption in the department within a month. But, perhaps, it would be easier to do away with the department itself. Yesterday it became known that the scandalous criminal case of the beating of eight young people at the Sokolniki police station in April last year was closed. Together with the case, our eyes were closed to what was happening in the police.
At the same time, the investigation not only does not deny the fact of the beating, but, apparently, approves of it, labeling those beaten as “extremists.” The motivation is this: after the incident, the victims held a rally against the police department, which means they are unreliable. That is, according to the security forces, those who do not agree with abuses in the police should apparently be dealt with exactly as they did with Kirill Karyazin (the investigation did not refute his testimony):
“The duty officer said that we are now “going to be killed.” They asked me to turn around and knocked me off my feet by hitting my head against the wall. The beating continued when I was already lying on the floor. They forced me to stand up, saying that “the smartest ones should be beaten in the office, since there is more space there.” They took the bag, pulled out two books and started hitting me on the head with them. The police demanded that I admit that I was “in charge.” Seeing that the authors of the books were Schopenhauer, whom they called a “Jewish g...d,” and human rights activist Yuri Orlov, the operatives became even more angry and continued beating me, blaming me “for the collapse of Russia.” With swearing, they dragged me into the back room, where several people were beating Seva, who was lying on the floor... After I fell, the operatives continued to beat me while I was lying down. The screams of those being beaten could be heard from the neighboring rooms. One of the policemen shouted: “Here are the sweet 80s!” and turned on Viktor Tsoi’s song “Mama Anarchy”. Two operatives lifted me by the legs, and one, shouting “beat him in the f—,” hit me in the groin with a stun gun. I fainted".
There was not even an official investigation into this massacre (and if it was, then nothing is known about it - and there were no results). And now the official investigation has stalled “for lack of evidence of a crime.” And it’s true: a crime is still an emergency, and such incidents in Russian police departments have long become the norm.
