Today at the Junior World Hockey Championship, which is taking place these days in the USA, the playoff round starts.
Our youth team, after a not very successful start - Valery Bragin's team lost to the Canadians 3:6 and the Swedes 0:2 - was able to show character. With no room for error (any defeat would have ruined the Russians' chances of a place in the cup round), they defeated the Norwegians 8:2 and the Czechs 8:3.
In the decisive head-to-head match against the Czech national team, the results of which determined the last holder of a ticket to the playoffs, we only had to worry about the starting five minutes. Having conceded first, our hockey players instantly “woke up” and responded with four goals in the first period and the same number in the second. At the same time, the Russian team not only showed character, but also showed brilliant hockey - the opponent was literally destroyed!
I would like this passion not to disappear at least until the quarterfinals with the Finns. The meeting starts on January 3 at 3:30 Moscow time.
The winner of this pair goes to the Swedes, who beat the Canadians in a shootout in the match for first place in the group.
