The commander of the Armed Forces of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, said on the afternoon of July 5 that the Ukrainian military over the past two days has attacked electrical substations in the annexed Crimea and in the territories of Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions occupied by Russian troops.
“Minus 16 energy units in 48 hours. The Crimean switch is in the Off position,” Brovdi wrote on his Facebook.
The Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces published a list of electrical substations that the Ukrainian military successfully attacked. It has 10 electrical substations in Crimea:
- Substation 330 kV “Zapadno-Krymskaya”, Kariernoye village
- Substation 220 kV “Bakhchisaray”, Bakhchisaray
- Substation 110 kV “Saki”, Saki
- Substation 110 kV “Traktovaya”, Traktovoye village
- Substation 110 kV “Niva”, Niva village
- Substation 110 kV “Zimino”, village Zimino
- Substation 110 kV “Kovylnoye”, Kovylnoye village
- Substation 110 kV “Stepnoe”, Stepnoe village
- Substation 35 kV “Yany Kapu”, Yany Kapu (Russian authorities call this city Krasnoperekopsk)

According to Brovdi, the destruction of Russian air defense systems, “logistics and fuel hunger,” as well as the disabling of electrical substations and communications should lead first to the consistent isolation of the Russian military on the peninsula, and then to “the complete outflow of colonialists and collaborators.”
The Russian-appointed head of the Yevpatoria administration, Vitaly Oganesyan, said on Sunday morning that “there is no electricity throughout the city, in most areas there is also no water, and trams are not running.” According to him, work to restore power supply is underway, but the timing of its completion is still unknown.
The city of Saki, located near Evpatoria, was also left without electricity. “The situation is complicated, emergency work is underway, the completion date of the work has not been determined,” said the Russian-appointed head of Saki’s administration, Yulia Predybaylo. According to her, the city will turn on generators at water and sewerage stations for two hours, “to ensure minimum water pressure in water supply networks.”
The authorities of the annexed Crimea have not publicly stated the reason for the power outages.
Power outages in Crimea are visible in nighttime satellite images published by NASA. Meduza studied a series of images over the past week, they show a drop in night illumination in Evpatoria on July 2 and 3 (NASA uses UTC time), and its partial recovery on July 4. NASA does not currently have more recent satellite data.
In Crimea, for several weeks now there has been an acute shortage of fuel, which, among other things, is used for generators. Fuel supplies to the annexed peninsula are difficult due to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the R-280 Novorossiya highway, the main supply route for the annexed peninsula.

Vladimir (Ekaterinburg) . Recently, an advertisement for recruitment for war appeared on a billboard at my entrance. My first thought as an opponent of the war was to tear off this announcement - especially since we don’t have any cameras nearby.
But then I thought a little and came to the conclusion that now people go to the front relatively voluntarily. What happens if hiring falls? Most likely, there will be mobilization again and again, like in 2022, I will be wandering around different countries with my family for a year. Or, worse, I won’t be able to leave and will end up in prison or sign a contract under torture.
In general, I did not tear down this announcement. I still don’t know if I acted and thought correctly. It would be more likely that this would all somehow end.
