The co-founder of the Kazakh feminist initiative Feminita, Gulzada Serzhan, was summoned to the Almaty Police Department due to “LGBT propaganda” in the Ten Tirshilik podcast. Two more feminists were asked to come to the police with her.
As reported in Feminite, on August 24, Serzhan was informed that the next day she must report to the police department on Masanci Street, 55. According to the initiative, an employee of the Department for Combating Organized Crime contacted her.
The occasion was the release of the Ten Tirshilik podcast with the participation of Serzhan. At the same time, Feminite notes that the conversation was dedicated to matriarchy, veganism and ecology.

The initiative team connected what happened with the amendments adopted in Kazakhstan at the end of 2025, and called what was happening a “witch hunt.”
“Zhanar Sekerbaeva and Gulzada Serzhan, like other activists, have the right to give interviews, participate in podcasts, and share their opinions in any public space. Let's adhere to the democratic path of development of our country and stop the practice of silencing famous, brave, bright women in Kazakhstan. We are and will be!” - said Feminite.
At the end of 2025, Kazakhstan adopted a law prohibiting “propaganda of non-traditional sexual orientation,” including in the media and on online platforms. For distributing such content, citizens face fines, and in case of repeated violation, including administrative arrest. Earlier , a website was blocked for the first time in the country under the law on “LGBT propaganda.”
