Born in 1960 in Chisinau. In 1983 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Communications. Since 1988, he has been collecting works of contemporary art and organizing exhibitions. In 1990 he founded one of the first private galleries in Moscow.
Marat Guelman Gallery is a leader in all rating lists based on such indicators of professional work as the level of artists' skill, the art of organizing exhibitions and commercial results.
The gallery hosted exhibitions of iconic 20th century artists Joseph Beuys and Andy Warhol. However, the gallery’s fame was brought by large-scale non-profit projects “Dedicated to the Seventh Congress of People’s Deputies...”, “Conversion”, “People’s Choice”, “Body Space”, the patriotic project “New Money”, etc.
