“Here I am,” said the prince. - I lived abroad, read newspapers and, I admit, even before the Bulgarian horrors I did not understand why all the Russians so suddenly fell in love with the Slavs brothers, but I don’t feel any love for them? I was very upset, I thought that I was a freak or that the Carlsbad was acting on me. But, having come here, I calmed down - I see that besides me there are people who are interested only in Russia, and not the Slavs brothers.

So the longest break in the history of the publication of the evening Internet ended. It lasted nearly two months, and for me personally this separation was painful. Judging by the reader mail (sometimes offended, sometimes mournful, often - puzzled), many regulars of VI were also not easy for these 54 days. True, the discussion in the guest book did not stop for a minute. But this is not enough of my merit - here all my heartfelt thanks belong to the tireless Frodo, who rewrote the guest script again, introducing the through numbering of all the added records, giving the opportunity to refer to them individually, selectively and crosswise ...
No matter how hard the separation may be, now it is already behind. Evening Internet is again in the ranks, and although I would not want to give any obligations here about frequency, we can hope that the regularity of issues will improve in one way or another. Soon, according to the publishers, the capital reorganization of the design of the review, its format and structure is coming, so we will still fight.
In today's issue, I, following a long -standing tradition, deceive the reader’s expectation and I will not tell you either about Gazete.ru (which many quite rightly call the cause of the protracted break with the release of VI), nor about the long -promised results of the Soros competition (they are, however, in suitable form for publication, I have not yet been provided). I will not mention the two new projects of Netskate - Captain Cook and Scubanet . I will not tell about Information.ru , about searches in the room of the SB cone last Friday, dedicated to the search for the originals of the claw , I will not name the address at which the video recording of the entertainment of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation still dusts on the Internet (I had to talk about it before), I will not be said about the celebration on April 1 on Fuck.ru , I will not list Even NATO servers hacked in my amazed presence last night. I will not tell you about the plans of Dmitry Vitalievich Kryukov to create a multi -level hierarchy on the site of the current Rambler's Top100 ( read about this with Gagin , although he himself did not fully understand what is proposed there). Instead of all these exciting stories, today's issue will be dedicated to the author who, on other days, gave our review a lot of juicy quotes and shock epigraphs. I think, by the name of today's note, you have already guessed that it would not be about Alexander Marinina .

Viktor Olegovich Pelevin after a long break pleased the fans of his talent with a new book. However, who pleased, and whom he was firmly disappointed. But neither repeat everything that has already been written and said on the Internet about this book, nor retelling in his own words its plot is not included in my tasks. Instead, I will simply pay tribute to the genre of the Linklist, so familiar to our constant readers, and offer a list of publications on this topic, which are already available on the Internet (the full text of the Generation P A so far, according to my information, is not observed). The list does not pretend to be full, double the number of links contained in it is the matter of fifteen minutes, but I am completely very difficult to imagine the reader who is not too lazy to explore at least half of what is proposed here, therefore, I will interrupt on the magic number 13, and may all the reviewers, interviewers and publicists will forgive me: I have not mentioned here:
| Voice according to the letter "P" |
Having given the promised tribute to the genre, I will not resist a few phrases about why this novel actually deserves reader attention, contrary to the statements of the authors of the good half of the above reviews, the snort of literary snobs and other forms of criticism, which the Generation P was awarded over the past month, possibly even more than praise for Chapaeva in two and half a half. Since its publication ...
Of course, "Generation P" is not literature in the sense that lovers are invested in this concept to measure any text, armed with a ratio of ranks. Imagine a person who is unfamiliar with the names of Berezovsky, Raduev, Zhirinovsky, Zyuganov, Swan and other domestic oligarchs and temporary workers - half of the plot intrigue built by Pelevin will be incomprehensible to such a reader. It can be imagined that twenty years later, when all these names are forgotten, repeated editions of the novel will have to be supplied with a reference apparatus that tends to it with the textbook of domestic history ... There are other completely legitimate claims - for example, to a style that is sloppy, hasty, sinners in malfunctions and clumsy of speech revolutions (in "Chapaeva" such clumsy were carefully closed Smooth, straightened and inituted). Supporters alien to snobbery, attitudes towards the new novel by Pelevin, as simply to a high-quality action-packed honor (to which the author of these lines belongs to), can promote Viktor Olegovich that the boring fantastic move in Generation P is a literal repetition of the article on September 2, 1998 , where the idea of silicone-graphic origin of three-dimensional Yeltsin and Swan spoke in direct text. Today, I believe, it was time to say that the authors of that note were Demyan Borisovich Kudryavtsev and Alexander Vladimirovich Gagin, who quite clumsy imitated the features of my author's style in it. But all this, by and large, is not essential.
Victor Pelevin once again created a bestseller. There are guys such a genre in the world. From the English words Best and Sell, which means high salesiness. It’s not like that, of course, like Alexandra Marinina or her brothers in the genre, but ... Polevin’s new book will read a lot of intelligent person in Russia - if not in order to penetrate with deep existential philosophy (which, in my opinion, is thinly spoiled), then at least in the order of delay and relaxation. And to a person who believes that in the life of a modern Russian intellectual there is no place for these two concepts, I can only advise a psychotherapist as sorely. On my own book shelf "Generation P" took an honorable place next to the Hardcover publication of a month earlier in America John Grisham " The Testament ". By the way, Grisch with his last book disappointed me much more than Pelevin - his own. Not because the previous Street Lawyer seemed to me the pinnacle of the work of a lawyer -growing (his best book is disputed in my eyes for the first five novels - from the time that had failed in a commercial book -time, to kill a successfully screen chamber ), but simply insulting that Grisha decided to test the principle of St. Petersburg, and in search of the limit of his own non -comprehensiveness - and Immediately found this limit. The best in the history of the American (and world) literature, the master of judicial drama for some reason pushed to the laurels of his colleague Kruton and climbed to describe the wandering on a motor boat in the Brazilian jungle - rain, thunderstorms, savages, malaria and other guile, which Jules Verne sucked up to the last limit (by the way, Kraiton, in my opinion, with writing Congo, with writing Congo It ended as an interesting commercial writer on this side of the ocean). Of course, Testament also has court hearings, but the case does not even reach the selection of jury (an exciting procedure that in Runaway Jury , it is also a verdict in an inexpressibly monstrous Russian translation, has been allotted 200 pages). In my opinion, a purely personal sensation, the most pleasure from reading Testament will be the one who will be able to stop reading this novel half a page before the first appearance of the protagonist. With his entry into the frame, Grishham is cheated on his inimitable cynicism, which made up the plot rod of all previous novels, and saliva begins in tropical sugar, the chewing of which is stimulated by an intricate plot, but ends with a dull disappointment: why, asks, chewed?!
Let us return, however, to Pelevin. He, as it has already been said above, if he disappointed me a little, unable to withstand the plank specified earlier before, then much less than Grisha. Rather, it can even be said that he did not disappoint me at all. Because after the "Chapaev and the Void" I was almost sure that there would simply be no second novel in a row. And the stories from the life of the new Russians, which Pelevin was squeezed in the interval on the pages of various glossy publications, strengthened my confidence that the author’s religious author confidently slides into a commercial genre from the good old “great Russian literature”. When the white -stone capital was dressed in the advertising shields of Java: a response blow, and the information from the sources reported to me that this slogan belongs to Per Polevin - I fully convinced that the Chapaev would not have continued. And, frankly, he expected that the new novel by Pelevin, if he was released at all, would turn out to be expanded and supplemented by variation on the same topics about the life of the new Russians, unusually at some point, who were fascinated by the father of the underground cosmonautics ... In this sense, "Generation P" turned out to be noticeably better than I feared. I read it with pleasure, and I am sure that you will enjoy no less, unless you try to consider this text as a continuation of “Chapaev and Void” (despite the presence in two books of one in common, equally passing for both, character).
On this, I leave the reader alone with the new book by Pelevin (sold in the AD Marginem store for 32 rubles, on New Arbat - for 60, and Sytin for 51 rubles with delivery in Russia). In the following issues of VI, which will be extended, God will give, until the end of this week, it will be told about the Gazeta.ru project, about the new servers and services of the Russian network, about the duty pessimism of Leonid L. Delitsyn, about where everything rolls, and in general. I will not write only about the war in the Balkans . Because there is no more human forces about her about her.
