What to teach at school

VTsIOM presents the results of a survey conducted on May 26 V 29, 2000 A according to a sample, representative for adult (18 years and older) of the population of Russia on the floor, age, level of education, region and type of settlement.

The survey was conducted in 83 settlements of 33 regions of the country (150 points of the survey) on the sample of 1,600 people. Comparative tables indicate the results of polls conducted on the same samples.

The permissible error V is in the range of 3.8%.

Men are more often than women, they believe that physics, chemistry, biology, physical education, management and history should be taught more at school. Women are more to their liking training in households, hygiene of sexual relations, the basics of religion and the Russian language.

Young people under 24 would most often like to teach accounting and office work, sex hygiene, the basics of management, social sciences and foreign languages. References at the age of 25-40 believe that it is more to teach hygiene of sex, foreign languages, a computer and philosophy. Persons of 40-55 years are more appreciated by such school subjects as physics, chemistry, biology, physical education and the foundations of religion. Russians over 55 years old most often consider labor training, as well as mathematics and literature.

The residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg are most popular with such school subjects as the history of arts, foreign languages ​​and computer letters. Among the inhabitants of other large cities are philosophy, foreign language and physical education. In middle cities, it is most believed that it is necessary to pay more attention to teaching physics, chemistry, biology and the basics of religion. In small cities - the basics of management, labor education and hygiene of sex. The villagers have the most desired school subjects, the Russian language, the basics of accounting and office work.
