Congress of Muslims opened in Omsk

A kurultai (congress) of Muslims from the Asian part of Russia opened today in Omsk. Its participants will discuss issues of political and religious life in Russia.

The continuation of the congress will be a meeting of the socio-political movement "Refah" ("Prosperity"), scheduled for August 19, speaking on behalf of all Russian Muslims. It is expected that it will announce the creation of a strategic alliance between this organization, the Unity party and the Assembly of Peoples of Russia, headed by Ramazan Abdulatipov. This organization awarded President Putin the gold medal "Friendship of Peoples - Unity of Russia" with the wording "For the courage shown in the liberation of Dagestan from militants." So the connection of the Assembly with “Unity” can be considered natural.

The meeting participants will also discuss the project of creating a Muslim European Interparliamentary Assembly.
