Once again we are informed that Moldova is selling its .md domain zone. The history of the .md zone is mysterious. The fact of its sale has been presented as fresh news for at least the last year. It has been on sale for two years now. Moldova abandoned its intention to engage in its own developments quite a long time ago. Moldova, however, unlike, say, the state of Tuvalu, does not require money to join the United Nations, since it is already inside, but it will probably be useful for something else (if it is ever received). On the other hand, the .md domain zone is conditionally useful for society - it is assumed that it is most relevant for medical institutions and doctors with private practice.
In fact, the mysterious story of the two-year sale of the .md domain apparently illustrates local national specifics. The quintessence of local Moldovan specificity was a story that made a stunning impression on me (at seven years old I was quite impressionable). A friend of mine of the same age, who then came to Moscow for the summer from Chisinau, struck my imagination by giving me some nonsense, and the next day she took it back, commenting on this act with the immortal phrase: “Here in Chisinau they give me THAT .” Apparently, they sell it in a similar way in Chisinau.
