The tripartite meeting of US President Bill Clinton, President of Egypt Hosni Mubarak and the chairman of the Palestinian National Administration of Yasir Arafat in Sharm El-Sheikh today, negotiations on the Middle Eastern settlement have resumed about noon. It contains three main provisions: the withdrawal of Israeli troops to their former positions, the return of the Palestinians and Israelis at the negotiating table, the creation of a mechanism that would clarify the causes of the current confrontation and would not allow the repetition of such events. As you can understand from the statements of Israeli sources, the essence of disagreements is in the sequence of actions of the parties to stop the conflict. Palestinians demand that Israel take its troops to the end of clashes.
