Two citizens of Russia were arrested in Thailand

Thai police arrested in the vicinity of the resort city of Pataya two residents of Krasnoyarsk, suspected in Russia of committing custom -made murders.

It is assumed that 34-year-old Oleg Styazhkov and 29-year-old Anton Lavrinenko are members of one of the criminal groups in Russia, AP agency reports. They were detained at Pataya Airport at the moment when another plane from Russia was supposed to land in Thailand, which, perhaps, had to fly to the detainees.

The Bangkok Post Bangkok newspaper reported that Styazhkov and Lavrinenko fled from Russia in June 1999 after the next crime committed by them.

Now the arrested are located in the police station of the province of Chonburi, 70 km south of Bangkok. Despite the fact that an extradition agreement is not concluded between Thailand and Russia, they will most likely be transferred to the Russian law enforcement agencies after the expiration of the legal stay in the country.

Thailand authorities anxiously state that in recent years the number of tourists with a criminal past is growing steadily. It is especially noted that the Thai orders arrange criminals from Russia, England and Germany, who feel completely safe in Thailand.

Fearing the spread of transnational crime, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported the proposal of the National Security Council to revise the liberal policy regarding the visa -free entry of foreigners into the country.
