Above the roof are balls of purple vapor.
The gnome flattened by the masses of the streets -
A passionless organ grinder stands under the window. Now the organ moans, now the goat bleats,
It rings sweetly with a Moldavian tear.
He turns - Gavrila! And we, simpletons,
We throw him dimes from the windows... Go up to the fourth, difficult floor,
Where I check my meager luggage,
Where I don't hide anything from you,
Where I am romantic - and I take an oath: Do not weave patterns. Do not spin praises.
To be forever hungry is to endure, but not to steal.
And if dispassion is stamped -
Find the courage to remain silent.
He kept us hungry.
His father is Volodya
I was shaking at the machine all day.
It's been a long time since that factory
The rich man ran away.
And now Volodya's father
Began to manage the plant.
A house is a palace, like a grove is a garden.
His father is Evgesha
Groomed small foals.
It's been a long time since that gentleman
He ran away from the village
And now Evgesha's father
He began to manage the state farm.

A charmer
Our yard is paved, simple and rugged.Above the roof are balls of purple vapor.

“How the Steel Was Tempered” by N.A. Ostrovsky over the course of a year went through about thirty reprints in central publishing houses . In many cities the book was reprinted several times this year.
On January 28, dedicated to the work of Shostakovich, appeared in Pravda the famous article “Confusion Instead of Music,” :
“This is music that is built on the same principle of denial of opera, according to which leftist art generally denies simplicity, realism, clarity of image, natural sound of words in the theater. This is the transference into opera, into music, of the most negative features of “Meyerholdism” in a multiplied form. This leftist confusion instead of natural human music. The ability of good music to captivate the masses is sacrificed to petty-bourgeois formalistic attempts, to claims to create originality through the methods of cheap originality. This is a game of abstruse things that can end very badly."
In connection with this article, formalism was declared the most vicious enemy of the Soviet people, which they began to look for and find wherever possible. unfolded The persecution of Leonid Dobychin (quotes from periodicals and speeches are given from V. Kaverin’s book “Epilogue” - M.: 1989):

From speeches during a discussion of Dobychin’s book at the Mayakovsky House of Writers on March 25 :
“Admiration of the past and bitterness because it is lost is the quintessence of this work, which can safely be called a work deeply hostile to us” ( E. Dobin ).
“Dobychin is our local Leningrad sin” ( N. Berkovsky ).
A few days later L. Dobychin committed suicide.
On June 18, in Gorki near Moscow M. Gorky died .
On December 22, N.A. Ostrovsky died .

The title of this poem is "In the City." If you need a poem "In the Country", please do not waste any inspiration. Everything will be done mechanically. Turn the lever in the machine, and you will get the same verses, but instead of “owner” it will be printed “master”, and instead of “factory” - “state farm”.

Both poems are printed side by side in the "Primer" by E. Fortunatova and Shleger, which was approved by the People's Commissariat for Education for millions of Soviet children (1935).
