The Prosecutor General's Office took control of the investigation into the criminal case of the beating of the former vice-governor of the Kursk region Sergei Maksachev. As already reported, on Sunday the official was taken to the hospital with numerous injuries directly from the regional administration building, where, according to his statement, he was beaten by two employees of the new governor Alexander Mikhailov. Yesterday, the regional prosecutor's office, which accepted this criminal case, detained one of the suspects in the attack, Vasily Oleynikov. According to Mr. Maksachev, it was this man, who introduced himself as the new vice-governor, held him on Sunday in one of the offices and participated in torture. As it turned out, Oleinikov does not hold any positions in the new composition of the regional administration (at least for now), but is listed as vice-president of one of the commercial structures. Yesterday, investigators conducted the first interrogation with him, but information about how Oleynikov explains his participation in the incident has not yet been received.
