Today, during the discussion of the agenda of the State Duma meeting, MP Yushenkov proposed to consider the issue of citizens' liability for disrespect for the anthem of the Russian Federation.
This proposal was made by a deputy from the ATP due to the fact that the State Council and President Putin offered the lower house to legitimize Alexandrov’s music as a melody of the new anthem of Russia. A significant part of Russian society is sharply negative about the restoration of the USSR anthem as an official symbol of the Russian Federation.
Members of the Yabloko bloc, the Union of Right Forces, as well as prominent public figures say that the new anthem causes such conflicting feelings in them that they do not consider it possible to get up for themselves during the sound of Alexandrov’s music.
In order to still achieve respect for the hymn from the entire population of Russia, it is necessary to legitimize punitive measures in relation to persons who are neglecting to this part of the Gossimvoliki. “Let everyone then know why they will put those who will not get up in the performance of a new-old anthem of Russia,” Yushenkov added, mentioning the notorious 57th article of the Criminal Code of the USSR on responsibility for anti-Soviet activities.
However, the sarcasm of the Deputy of the ATP did not achieve the goal. The speaker of the lower house Seleznev ordered Yushenkov that he should first prepare the bill "On liability for disrespect for the state hoss", and only then submit it for discussion.
