Today in Belarus, festive events begin on the occasion of the New Year, NTV reports. They opened with a solemn procession of the columns of Santa Morozov and Snow Maiden along the Central Avenue of Minsk.
More than 200 grandfathers of frost and Snow Maiden, accompanied by mummers, entered the New Year's demonstration. The musical accompaniment of the procession was provided by the brass band.
Minsk residents are accustomed to various kinds of demonstrations, but they have not yet seen the like. The slogans, distributed from the column of Santa Claus, were confused to an even greater extent: the New Year's theme of calls sometimes acquired a pronounced Pervomaisky hue.
The column of official Santa Morozov and Snow Maiden was met by the head of the city Christmas tree Minsk mayor Mikhail Pavlov, who spoke to the participants in the New Year's procession with a speech. The mayor turned to the grandfather Frosts with the following appeal: "Today we have a very large number of Santa Claus and Snow Maiden at our holiday. I would like these grandfathers to enter every house, to every family and bring you all happiness."
From reliable sources close to the developers of the Belarusian New Year's scenario, it became known that the meeting of the new millennium will be largely traditional. Christmas fairs have already begun to work. Under each of the hundreds of urban Christmas trees will install a stage for artists.
Last year’s undertakings with the launch of balloons, it was decided to refuse. As it turned out, such an action awakens partisan traditions in Belarusians: last year, the idle people managed to bring down part of the balls.
The celebration this year will be an hour shorter. Anyway, as many years of experience shows, by 5 o’clock in the morning, sanely celebrating on the streets, there is almost no remaining.
Enterprising Minskers will still be protected in the city of spruce trees growing in the city of spruce trees, √ on the eve of the New Year are trying to cut them down and take them to their home.
