VTsIOM represents the results of a representative express survey of 1600 Russians, held on December 15-18, 2000 . The distribution of answers to some questions of this study are given as a percentage of the number of respondents.
The survey was conducted in 83 settlements, 33 regions of the country (150 points of the survey).

New Year's holidays begin. Time to make and receive gifts. Two -thirds of all adult Russians are going to do both of them. They will make gifts, and expect their receipt. They will exchange New Year's gifts. About a tenth of adult Russians -? Donors without exchange?. They will make gifts to others, and do not expect gifts for themselves. And only four out of a hundred -? Recipients without exchange?. Waiting for a gift, but themselves are not going to make gifts. These are the data of the New Year's survey of the VTsIOM, conducted on December 15-18, 1,600 people from 18 years old and older were interviewed.

Will you make gifts for your friends and relatives for the New Year? Do you expect a gift for the New Year yourself?
There are three times more donors without exchange than recipients without exchange. The reason is obvious. The main recipients without exchange V are children and adolescents. And they were not interviewed, they were not taken into account. Indirectly, this is evident from the assortment of gifts that donors will make without exchange. In the first place here V Sweet: sweets, cake, sweets (61%). On the second V toys (21%). And only on the third V are no longer children's gifts: perfumes, cosmetics, perfumes (9%). On the fourth V trinkets, jewelry (8%).

The choice of those who are not going to make gifts themselves are noteworthy in their similarities with a children's assortment. In the first place V is also sweet (29%). The assortment of gifts, the receipt of which are expected by adult Russians who are going to give, exchanging gifts, is arranged differently.
