I can’t indifferently see that the chatting in French becomes the first subject in the upbringing of a noble Russian, that it can replace all the shortcomings of this and make a Russian reputation! Add to this the necessary consequences and influence of foreign education on the most important point of our morality. Firstly, foreign teachers either do not introduce a young Russian at all with his Fatherland, for they themselves know little about him, or are taught by the books a miserable, unfair, biased; Secondly, often speaking with a child with enthusiasm and preference characteristic of every honest person, they somewhat cool in him love for Russia and inspire respect for one or another foreign country. - The study fluently speak foreign languages ​​naturally takes away the time and ability to mind, reason! - And is it not from that we find in our ancestors more sanity and even memory? Were they more eloquent than us?
