Hindly all those who wrote about Russian numismatics, they largely agree that the Russian word ruble comes from the Russian word or verb “ruble”; But in the Northern Archive (No. I, p. 12), this 1826 is announced that the word ruble does not come from the Russian verb “ruble”, but from the Arab word Ruby , meaning the coin of the eastern peoples. This opinion is confirmed by the fact that the news of rubles entered Russia during the invasion of the Mongols on it. I say not a word about the correctness of this opinion; But I doubt it very much in proof.
