The disappearance of journalist Gongadze gave rise to a violent outburst of passions. And this is alarming. Because there is a high probability that someone is bluffing, trying to catch their goldfish in troubled waters. As one commentator put it, events after this develop “according to the logic of scandal, not the search for truth.”
And truth needs simple and clear questions. The first of them, who benefited from removing Gongadze? No one says this directly, but the subtext of the furious attacks on Kuchma contains a simple answer: the presidential team did it because the journalist was very annoying to them.
Alas, this version is unconvincing. Gongadze is not so great that the president would condescend to him. Even if the "Frost film" is authentic, it does not prove anything. You can hear swear words addressed to the restless journalist, and there are also words about the Chechens. But none of Kuchma’s interlocutors perceives them as orders. It is clear to everyone that the speaker is irritated. But only. That is why the idea about the Chechens is repeated, but does not receive any development in subsequent conversations.
But the words about the Chechens apparently played a fatal role. The owners of the recording, having received weighty “evidence” in their hands, were probably tempted to remove Gongadze and expose the president as a criminal. Moreover, it was in their interests to behead the corpse of their victim in order to imitate the “Chechen trail” supposedly leading to the president.
The next question is: who is behind the scandal? Apparently, we are talking about very influential forces with extensive experience in political directing. They managed to organize total surveillance of the president - possibly bugging not only his office, but also his bedroom. The information they collected (now called the “Moroz tapes”) could only work if Gongadze disappeared. When developing their plan, they had to provide for a thousand details. The scope of their actions in the first days after the journalist’s disappearance is striking. In particular, the whole of Kyiv, including the metro, houses and fences, was instantly covered with leaflets and posters.
And now they are skillfully conducting the process. The media are literally drowning in the flow of news and events fabricated according to the recipes of “dirty” technologies. Student pickets appeared on Independence Square. This was already ten years ago. And the participants in the square performances are painfully familiar - Rukh, URP and others like them. Until recently, this whole honest company was a mountain for the president. Now she's poisoning him. What happened over the past year? Isn't this the crux of the whole idea?
Two points need to be noted. First, with the emergence of Putin, relations with Russia have changed dramatically. Now you can't get gas for free. This means we need to move closer to our northern neighbor. For better or worse, Kuchma is turning to face a new reality, and this does not suit the national politicians who have made a career out of Russophobia.
Another point. After last year's elections, the nationalists managed to put their own man at the head of the government. Now he faces resignation for failures in the economy. And here the above-mentioned plan is born: to use clandestinely obtained information to discredit Kuchma. Next step: put pressure on him and force him to leave. Naturally, on the same day, presidential powers will pass to Yushchenko. And finally, the final stage: new elections, in which Yushchenko will become president with the help of administrative resources and dirty technologies.
As is known, the authorities announced a monetary reward for information about the missing Gongadze. But it would be better to use this money to find those who infiltrated Kuchma’s circle and organized a criminal campaign under the code name “Gongadze.” Their special feature is the donkey ears of nationalism.
