It was not in vain that the killer fought in Chechnya
It took the operatives just one night to detain the bandit who attempted to assassinate the head of the Kropotkin interdistrict department for combating organized crime (the city of Kropotkin, Krasnodar Territory). During interrogations, the contract sergeant, who had recently returned from Chechnya, already named the masterminds of this crime.

An explosion near the house where the Prokofievs live occurred on Wednesday evening. When the wife of the head of the local OBOP Evgeniy Prokofiev, 48-year-old nurse Lidiya Prokofieva, began to open the gate, a grenade exploded a few meters from her. The woman, who received numerous injuries, fortunately remained alive - she was saved by doctors from the Central Regional Hospital.
The operatives managed to detain the perpetrator of the crime within 24 hours. He turned out to be 23-year-old Alexey (last name not disclosed at the request of the investigation), a resident of the village of Gulkevichi in the Krasnodar Territory, who had recently returned from Chechnya, where he served in the federal troops under a contract for three months. During interrogation, he explained how he prepared the crime.
Approaching the Prokofievs' cottage, he took out of his pocket an RGD-5 grenade brought from Chechnya and a pre-prepared champagne bottle with the neck broken off. Having pulled out the safety pin, the criminal cocked the grenade and put it in a bottle glass, thus clamping the combat guard so that the grenade would not fire prematurely.
The contract sergeant camouflaged the deadly car near the fence enclosing the site, and secured a thin thread tied to it to the entrance gate. This is how a classic banner appeared in front of Lieutenant Colonel Prokofiev’s house. Chechen militants use similar devices against the federals: if you pull a string, the glass falls, a grenade falls out of it, releasing the bracket, and an explosion occurs.
The bandit said he installed the tripwire for the lieutenant colonel. The fighter against organized crime, according to him, was “ordered” by the head of one of the local enterprises, whom the OBOP officers caught in large-scale thefts. Having detained the suspect, the detectives prevented another crime - this coming weekend Alexey was going to deal with another OBOP employee who took part in the investigation of fraud.
