From Moscow to the outskirts
The net profit of Aeroflot-Russian Airlines OJSC in 2000 amounted to $15 million by international standards (by Russian standards - $37 million). Aeroflot receives a significant portion of its income (over 37%) from flights to Europe. Therefore, in the summer, additional flights are being introduced to Paris, London and Frankfurt - the company will fly there not once, but twice a day. Flights to Munich, Zurich, Geneva, Brussels, and Amsterdam will now become daily. Some flights to Europe will be operated on more spacious aircraft - along with the 131-seat Boeing 737-400, the 193-seat Airbus A310-300 will be more widely used. To do this, Aeroflot is removing all Airbuses from American flights (only Boeing 777-200 and 767-300ER will now fly to the USA and Canada). Domestic equipment will also be used more widely on foreign flights - for example, instead of Airbus, Il-96-300 will fly to Bangkok and Singapore. The analysis showed that flights to Karachi, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur, as well as Malaysia and Peru are unprofitable, and flights to these points are suspended. True, according to the head of Aeroflot's schedule department, Nikolai Akimov, this measure is temporary and these flights can subsequently be resumed.
