December last year in New York at the Solomon Guggenheim Museum hosted the exhibition "Amazons of the Russian Avant-Garde". Then the author of these lines came up with the idea to hold an exposition "Modern Russian Amazons". The partners of our museum in Moscow - NP "III Millennium" - supported this initiative and rented an exhibition hall in the Geological Museum.
There, an exposition was opened, in which 18 artists from Moscow (Irina Pomyanskaya, Maria Vladimirova, Maria Elkonina, Natalya Elkonina), St. Petersburg (Elena Amosova-Pogunova, Irina Birulya), Paris (Valentina Kropivnitskaya), Verdun (Lydia Masterkova) take part ), New York (Ella Shcheblanova, Asya Dodina), Yekaterinburg (Alena Azernaya), Kharkov (Taguhi Barseghyan, Marina Boyko, Olga Savchenko), Tel Aviv (Svetlana Dubinskaya), Odessa (Lyudmila Vasilyeva), Riga (Lyudmila Peretz) and the late Olga Potapova (Vyatka province).
The exhibition presents different trends that exist in contemporary art: objects, surrealism, fantastic realism, abstractionism, expressionism and the art of synthesis.
I must say that in December last year in our museum in Jersey City near New York, an exposition "The Art of Synthesis" was held, in which, along with young artists living in Russia and the USA, Mikhail Shemyakin, Anatoly Vasilyev and Oleg Lyagachev took part, - members of the Petersburg group, founded in 1965 by Shemyakin in Leningrad. They were already working in the style of "metaphysical synthetism".
As for the exhibition "Modern Russian Amazons", in late April-May it will take place in our museum, and in June - in the Grant Gallery.
In the second half of May, Muscovites will see two exhibitions organized by our museum and the NP "III Millennium" at the Central House of Artists ("The Art of Synthesis") and at the Jewish Cultural Center (personal exhibition of Maria Vladimirova).
