On May 21, the parents of Dmitry Kholodov, a journalist for the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, announced that they did not trust the results of the re-examination.

“We do not trust the findings of the additional due diligence.” According to them, the main discrepancy between the initial and current examinations is in the amount of explosive material. Initially, it was established that the explosive device was equivalent to 200 grams of TNT, which, according to the journalist’s parents, corresponds to the destruction caused in the MK editorial office.

Upon re-examination, it was established that the explosive device consisted of 25 grams of explosive and could not have caused the death of the journalist. The journalist's father, Yuri Kholodov, emphasized that the injured party was initially against conducting an additional examination, "since the results of the initial examination were accurate and did not need confirmation." In turn, the lawyer of one of the defendants, Valentin Volvach, insists on the results of an additional examination.

He also said that today the defendants intend to ask their questions to experts. In particular, he noted that one of the defendants, deputy commander of the Airborne Forces special detachment, Major Alexander Soroka, is a highly qualified explosives specialist.

Let us recall that MK journalist Dmitry Kholodov died on October 17, 1994. when a bomb exploded in the editorial office of the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office accuses six people of organizing and committing the journalist's murder.
